About the Project
EDF Energy’s Hinkley Point C project will be the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK. Hinkley Point C is an energy project, designed to help the UK meet its long-term electricity supply needs. Capable of generating 3.2GW, the station at Hinkley Point C, in Somerset, on the coast in the south-west of England, will have the capacity to generate power to around 6 million homes.
EDF is the world’s leading nuclear power utility with 38.5 million customers across Europe and 158,000 employees worldwide. Globally, the company generated 623 tera watt hours of electricity in 2014 alone.

It is expected that by 2030 a significant number of UK’s power stations are expected to close. The Hinkley Point C project will be a critical project in the UK’s energy future, providing Great Britain with enough low-carbon electricity from 2030 onwards.
